MUST BE ONE OF THE LATEST SIGHTINGS OF REDSHANK AT RINGSTONE

also a Kingfisher on South shore last week {JB}

we do not seem to get many and if we do its always seems to be October/ November.

As i walked down Green Lane to the Hide a Kestrel was calling and going mad

i looked down towards the cottage at the bottom and there was a Peregrine sat on a post with a few crows quite happy. It hung around all morning and patrolled the reservoir every 20 Min's flushing everything .

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday of this week has seen more Chiff Chaffs moving through Ringstone ,i check the bushes near the feeder every day and most mornings this week have had 1 and 2 Chiff Chaff flitting around by dinner time they seem to have moved on not a sign come the next day another one turns up ,today had 1 in with Long tailed tit flock near the inflow.

The Paddock on Thursday had 6 Redwing feeding on berries plus Chiff Chaff and Gt Tit, 2 Grey Wagtails on Friday flying over this area.

3 Wigeon on Wednesday evening

1 Cracking male wigeon today calling in middle of Reservoir.

Also in the hide today a Wren paid a visit through the window and sat on one of the benches for a few seconds then shot out.

A small bird of prey sat on the wall near the pile of stones as i was in the hide at the time the picture is very poor looked like a male Merlin. It shot of low over the farm.

House Sparrows

2 Pair of House Sparrows on feeders today i am ecstatic about this as we had a pair back in 2005 for a day. But two pairs, and on the feeders two days running, so they know there is food about. We will have to see what the cold weather bring.
