Pintails at ringstone




1 Female Pintail today at Ringstone at 2pm. Reports of a male in Eclipse with here came through at 7pm. Also 32 Lapwing 150+ Canada Geese in West Field. 32 BH Gulls 2 LBB Gulls and 4 Common Gulls on West Shore. 3 Willow Warblers in bushes near Feeding station with Gt Tit Blue Tit JUV Robin Greenfinches Goldfinches Wren Dunnocks and Blackbird.

100 House Martins and Swallows feeding over reservoir.

Wigeon




Today 1 Wigeon on reservoir showing a lot of white on left hand wing? also 3 LBB Gulls

Swallows still flitting around. Yesterday and for much of last week 200 Canada Geese in West Field with 1 Greylag Goose. 10 Lapwing on East Shore . A Male Sparrow Hawk has been very active this week with a few visits to the feeding station and sat on the north shore Monday and Wednesday. Willow Warblers at feeding station yesterday with all the usual.

Common Scoter and ?





Common Scoter on reservoir today with a different Scaup? not conviced, thought it was a Female Tufted Duck. Not an expert on any bird but just seemed to have start of crest. I waited to see if they would come in close and they did for about 5 mins so i got some better shots. Any Comments welcome

Scaup at Ringstone 7am today



I Got a text message off John Watson yesterday to say he was pretty sure there was a female Scaup at Ringstone yesterday. I put the word out and a few Halifax birders turned up and agreed. These photo were took today 02/08/07. Scaup was still their at 1pm.

Update

I Have been away and have been busy with Ringing . I will Try and catch up with Ringstone News.
7 Juvenile Goosander Last week on Reservoir, Common Sandpiper and Wheatear. Also Young Stonechats seen in West Fields.
Thanks to John Watson for the updates.
Sunday Nick Carter reported a Whimbrel on the west pool and 2 Sedge Warblers in the Juncas. Just got back from Hols and rushed up there to see them.
Yesterday over 100 BH Gulls and 3 Lesser Black Backed Gulls.
