Just pulled up in the normal place to look at feeding station when i looked across near Clifford's house picked up 6 Terns heading towards Scammonden, got camera out and took these very bad very far and very wet. looking at the photos look like Common Tern ?? and there was 9.

After 3 years of blogging about ringstone edge reservoir , i no longer have the time to update as am busy with other things. I will keep it as it is , so you can look back at months to see what is due in from year to year . It is all very similar accept the odd rarity that tunes up.

Another female Stonechat ringed

Another female stonechat ringed today at ringstone. Also 1 Male wheatear on wall near hide. Goldeneye female on reservoir with 6 Mallards . 60 Golden Plover in East Fields with 12 Lapwing . 7 Linnets coming to seed.

A nice mix and match this week with Oystercatcher and Wheatear ending the week. Skylarks and Meadow Pipits are returning as are the Goldfinches to the feeders. On Wednesday i spent all afternoon until 6:30 at the reservoir. 2 Grey Herons, 8 Snipe, 1 Greylag Goose, 22 Lapwing, 8 Golden Plover, 4 Goosander, 4 Teal, 6 Mallard. 4 Bh Gulls and 2 Reed Bunting.

All we need is for this wind to stop.

Not a lot doing in the last few weeks , Golden Plover Numbers fluctuating from 2 to 230 same with Lapwing. One Greylag Goose in East Field this morning.

85 Pink Footed Geese

85 Pink Footed Geese today at Ringstone when i got there. Andy C i think he had 90 something later on. Was never any good at Maths.

Female Stonechat Ringed on Monday as well.

What a horrendous week weather wise it has been. Gale force winds sheeting rain. Only on Wednesday was the weather any good. The wind had stopped and the reservoir was like a mill pond a bit of drizzle which stopped and started.

I set 1 30ft net by the lone bush where the Reed Buntings normally hang out . Within 15 minutes i had 1 male Reed Bunting in the net. As I was set up i thought i would recce the site for somewhere to put my 40ft 2 shelve net. About 60 ft away from the East Pool in a nice Bogey part of the reservoir which i know was good for Snipe. I set it up and in doing so noticed some Meadow Pipits close by so retreated back to check the 30 ft net. On my way back to the 40ft i got within 30ft of it and i flushed a Jack Snipe straight into it. Love it when a plan works.

A quick visit this afternoon to fill up the feeders after the hurricane winds of late. Nice to see 2Male 2 Female Goosanders and 2 Wigeon + 200 Common Gulls 70 Pink Footed Geese flew over Stainland Dean heading West towards Ringstone at 12 10 today.

Started Ringing at Ringstone feeding station yesterday afternoon. Put two nets up 1 20ft net in Dr Clogher's yards and 1 40ft 2 Shelve net next to feeding station.
1 Starling and 1 Greenfinch was the total for the hour i spent there.
Today put the 30ft net by the feeders and the 2 shelve in the yard
3 Starlings, 3 Chaffinch, 1 Dunnock, 3 Goldfinch, 2 Greenfinch and 1 Robin.

Other birds about 120 Golden Plover
